Two ways to plan

Come for the lights. Stay busy by day.

The aurora is a night show, and it keeps its own schedule. The days are for everything else Alaska does in winter.

  • Northern lights viewing
  • Dog sledding
  • Hot springs
  • Snowmobiling
  • Ice fishing
  • Glacier walks
  • Winter train rides
  • Ice art and festivals

Your concierge

With you from the first question to the flight home

One conversation, by chat, text or email. It knows your trip, speaks up before you need to ask, and hands you to a person when that is what you need.

Before you come

Planning, booking and getting ready for the cold.

  1. Traveler, Planning, in chat

Four of us in late February. We want the northern lights and dog sledding, and two of us hate being cold.

  2. Concierge, Planning, in chat

Then base in Fairbanks. Here is a five-day draft: two aurora nights with a heated cabin to wait in, a morning of dog sledding, and a hot springs day in the middle. Change anything before you book.

  3. Concierge, Two weeks before, by email

Your packing list is ready, built around your tours. Layers matter more than one big coat. Your dog sledding outfitter lends boots and parkas, so you can skip those.

  4. Concierge, Three days before, by text

The moon sets early on both of your aurora nights, which helps. I will send you the odds each afternoon once the forecast firms up.

  5. Concierge, The day before you fly, by text

Everything is confirmed. Your hotel knows you land late, and every tour on your plan includes pickup, so you will not need a rental car. Text me any time once you are here.

While you are here

Reminders, aurora alerts and quick fixes when the weather turns.

  1. Concierge, The evening before, by text

Dog sledding tomorrow at 10:00. Your pickup is 9:15 in the hotel lobby. It will be well below zero at the trailhead, so wear the base layers from your list.

  2. Concierge, 9:40 pm, by text

Tonight's odds are good where you are staying: skies clear after 11 and strong activity in the forecast. Best window is 11:30 to 2:00. No promises with the aurora, but this is the night I would stay up for.

  3. Concierge, The next morning, by text

Wind has cancelled tomorrow's flightseeing. I can move you to Thursday at 1:00 or refund it in full. Nothing changes until you tell me which.

  4. Traveler, Any time, by text

Can I talk to a person about our hotel?

  5. Concierge, A minute later, by text

Yes. I have passed this to our team with your trip details, and someone will text you within the hour.

These are examples of the kinds of messages you will get. The times, places and forecasts shown are illustrative.
